Lots of news at the Humane Society of the Piedmont! New leadership, new faces, new opportunities to serve our community!
We have been rebuilding this last year and creating our new normal. Through the uncertainty of the past few years, we’ve continued to be there for our community, providing much-needed low-cost wellness and spay/neuter services. We are committed to being low-cost to the community amid rising costs in all areas. In addition to cost-of-living wage increases to our team, we continue to face price increases in all areas including medicine, supplies, and utilities. If it weren’t for your support, we wouldn’t be able to help our community as personally as we do.

I wish you could see the relieved smile of the widowed retiree who depends on us for wellness, spay/neuter services and even cat food. Or hear the rescue groups who are committed to spay/neutering their pets prior to adoptions tell us how important it is to have access to affordable care. Or read the thank you notes from rural animal shelters who are grateful for our transport program. Your donation helps us make a truly positive impact on our community.
North Carolina rates 4th nationwide in pet euthanasia. We cannot adopt our way out of the problem; low cost spay and neutering is the only way to reduce, and ultimately end the tragic loss of perfectly healthy and loving pets. Thank you for your support as we endeavor to provide wellness care and spay/neuter as many pets as we possibly can.
We have some wonderful new team members, and are developing our team, including sponsoring a vet technician certification. We also invested in a new scavenge system and air quality improvement ionizer. Both help ensure the safety of our team and our clients. Once these items are completely paid for, we will need replacement lighting above our surgery tables as well as new autoclave medical sterilization devices due to the age of our equipment. No amount is too small to help us meet these needs.
I am grateful to be your new Executive Director! After many years volunteering and supporting animal welfare causes, it is my great pleasure to work side by side with a Board and Team dedicated to serving our community with affordable pet care. Through my volunteer work, I know just how important our work at HSP is. We exist for the community and look to the community for help sustaining our work in the community.
As the new year approaches, we are committed to expanding our positive impact on the community by continuing to provide the low-cost wellness and spay/neuter services vital to our area. We will also expand our food assistance program and educate the community about how we can help keep our furry family members healthy, happy and safe. You are an important part of our team. Your generosity is vital to our ongoing mission, and we gratefully thank you in advance for your donation. Gratefully yours, |
