Fill The Food Bowl Campaign The Fill the Food Bowl program was designed with the welfare of the pets and the current state of the economy in mind, this program is designed to help people feed their pets. The HSP will also delivery pet food to home bound citizens. Donation boxes have been set up at select locations throughout the triad and donations are tax deductible. Here at the HSP we have taken this campaign one step further by collecting non perishable people food to distribute to the various food banks/pantries in our community. We have begun placing donation bins around the triad at Talbot’s, Market America, Brassfield Animal Hospital, Camp Bow Wow, MEG’s, just to name a few. See complete listing below. Food delivery is available to qualified applicants. For help or to find out more about this program you can email us or call us at 336-299-3060. October is Domestic Violence Month Animal Abuse and Domestic ViolenceAn abundance of research shows the close link between violent behavior toward animals and violent behavior toward people. The studies on this page focus on the extraordinary prevalence of animal cruelty in homes afflicted by domestic violence. They reveal the insidious and calculated motives for harming or killing another person’s beloved pet, and the heartrending repercussions for the abused partners, their pets and their children. Read entire article Families and Victims of Domestic Violence Pet Foster Program - this program is for families of abuse or victims of Domestic Violence who seek safety in a Battered Family or Battered Women's' shelter, these shelters do not allow pets this is where we can help. When Kristen asks us about donating her handmade"TLC treat jars" we were more than happy to have them to distribute. I asked Krisien to tell us about why she wants to help the animals and below are her own words. A perfect example of a young person making a difference. I am donating these special homemade jars full of treats for special dogs that need extra TLC that are being adopted out. I came up with this idea because my very good friend, Julie, who works at the Humane Society Spay and Neuter Clinic and helped us adopt a kitty that needed a home, explained how so many animals are dumped, unwanted, or just abandoned. I researched the sites that Julie told me about and I saw how true her statement really was! Since I can't adopt them all, I decided to touch their lives in my own way. I wanted to do what I could. So, I thought of these treat jars just like goodie bags at a birthday party. I bought the jars, bones, material, ribbon, and typed up a paper to let people know my cause. I love all animals and hope to be a veterinarian one day. Thanks,
Meet Kaitlin and Spencer, a brother and sister eager to help with the launching of the Fill The Food Bowl campaign at All Pets Considered. Kaitlin spoke to the customers as they entered the store and handed out informational literature, all the while promoting our Planned Pethood Spay & Neuter Clinic.
A big Thank You to Drew Manry
Instead of getting gifts for his birthday, he asked his guests to make a pet food donation or money donation to help the animals. Drew received $240.00 and lots of pet food which he donated to the Humane Society!
